· 6 min read

A baby's first birthday is as much a thank-you to everyone who helped through the first year as it is a party. Here are first birthday invitation messages written as if the baby is inviting, warm wording from parents, traditional lines with the elders' blessings, themed party lines and short texts to send on WhatsApp. Copy any of them and change the names.

Messages written as if from the baby

Invitations in the baby's own voice are the favourite with most families. Keep them short and a little playful.

What to write on a first birthday invitation

  1. The baby's name, and whether it is a son or daughter if elders will read it.
  2. Who is inviting: the baby, the parents, or the grandparents.
  3. Date, day and time, and separate times if there is a morning puja and an evening party.
  4. Venue with a map pin, especially for a banquet hall or a society clubhouse.
  5. The theme or dress code, if any.
  6. RSVP: ask how many adults and children are coming.
  7. A note on gifts, if you want one, such as "Your blessings are the only gift we need".

Tips for a smooth first birthday party

  • Send the invitation two to three weeks ahead, and a reminder the day before.
  • Count children separately from adults, so you know how many return gifts, high chairs and kids' meals you need.
  • Mention if the venue has a feeding room or a place to change diapers. New parents will thank you.
  • If grandparents prefer Hindi or your regional language, use two languages on the same card.
  • Keep the cake cutting early in the evening, before the birthday baby gets tired.

Make and send the invitation on Shubh

On Shubh you can make a first birthday invitation with a painted theme, write it in English or in two languages side by side, and send it on WhatsApp as a link that opens in the phone's browser. Guests need no app.

  • Give the morning puja and the evening party their own time, venue, map pin and dress code.
  • Guests tap RSVP and say how many adults and children are coming; you see the head count for each function.
  • Send each guest a personal link that greets them by name, such as "Dear Priya", and see who has opened it.
  • After the party, guests can add their photos to a shared photo wall through the same link.
